Every year Sarasota hosts a festival celebrating Greek culture at St. Barbara Orthodox Church. The Sarasota Greek Festival will take place on February 8-11th 2018. This will be the 33rd annual St. Barbara Greek Festival or "Glendi". The Greek Festival is a popular Sarasota event, attracting both visitors and residents each year.

The Greek Festival always has a variety of authentic Greek music and food. The Greek foods that are served include Pastitsio, Moussaka, Athenian Chicken and oven roasted lamb shanks.
There will also be plenty of beverage options: soft drinks and water or guests can try Greek wines, Greek beer, Ouzo and Greek anise-flavored liquor. The festival also includes a Greek marketplace with items for sale including Greek jewelry, clothing, cooking utensils, cheese, olive oil and other goods.
The St. Barbara Greek Festival will have a variety of activities for guests to enjoy. The youth perform traditional Greek folk dances and invite the audience to participate in line dances that will be taught at the festival. These Hellenic dances are performed in authentic Greek costume. In addition to dancing and entertainment, the Greek Festival will have church tours, a kids adventure zone, travel booking booth and a raffle.
Admission is $4 for those over 12 years, children 12 and under are free. A free shuttle is available that will take you from the festival to the parking lot.
