Four Hidden Gems On Siesta Key, FL

Everyone knows that Siesta Key has one of the world's best beaches.  Siesta Key Beach continues to rack up awards for its white powdered sand and gorgeous sunsets.  But Siesta Key has so much more to offer; restaurants, shops, activities, etc.  There's something for everyone, no matter what season you visit.  Here are four hidden gems on Siesta Key that many tourists may not know about, but definitely should.

Of course, staying in a hotel resort or motel tends to shield visitors from the less commercial side of Siesta Key, which has so much historic charm and gives people a much better feel for the vintage Florida lifestyle.  That's why a stay at the Inn on Siesta Key transports you back to a simpler, laidback time when life was easier and the hustle and bustle fades into a distant memory.  Here, the true hidden gems are just a short stroll away from your doorstep.

Siesta Key Drum Circle

The Siesta Key Drum Circle is something everyone should experience, yet few tourists know about.  Every Sunday evening starting approximately one hour before sunset, something magical happens.  A mix of locals and tourists begin to gather for an amazing musical experience.  Don't be surprised if the rhythm doesn't sweep you into the circle.  One of the truly free experiences available, the drum circle is suitable for all ages.

To get there, just walk out our Beach Access #9 and head North (left) towards the public beach lifeguard booths.  If it is close to sunset, you will soon hear the rhythmic sound of the drums.  Head toward the beat and enjoy!  Also, if you have a percussion instrument of your own and feel inclined to join in... go for it!  Everyone is welcome!

Sun Garden Cafe

Our my favorite breakfast place and just a short walk from the Inn on Siesta Key.  The food is wonderful and the staff members make you feel at home - just like we do at the Inn.  Dogs are allowed in the outside sitting area, (this is also true for most outdoor seating on Siesta Key) so if you're out for a stroll with your four-legged friend in the morning, stop by and get a hearty breakfast before you head back.  We might even see you there!

Lelu's Coffee Lounge

Great coffee and a wonderful local vibe.  Dogs are welcome in the front outside area.  Also has a very nice back outdoor seating area as well.  Lots of wonderful dishes on the menu.  Be sure to try the homemade carrot cake.  You know if lots of locals make this their first morning stop... it's got to be good.

Califlorida Surf & Skate Shop

If you just peek through the back of Lelu's, you'll find this hidden gem.  They carry all kinds of name brand apparel and have all kinds of rentals available, from paddle boards, surf boards, skim boards, body boards, bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, long boards and skateboards.  They also give kayak tours.  This place a cool, hip vibe and the rentals are reasonable.  Blake, the owner, will also make custom boards for clients.  Check it out!

Siesta Key has something for everyone and these four hidden gems will add more pleasure and value to your vacation getaway.  For more great locales to try, just ask us at the Inn on Siesta Key.  We'll try to give you the best advice about what to do and how to get there.
